Initial Wash
Nappies should be washed before use. Simply machine wash with a small amount of washing powder. This gets rid of any residue from the manufacturing. The hemp and microfibre inserts have been washed in water before being sewn and can be used straight away. The hemp will increase absorbency over the next few washes.
Washing Instructions
• Empty waste into toilet for older babies. Younger babies' waste can stay in the nappy.
• Remove insert/s.
• Fold back laundry tabs (on touchtape nappies).
• Store the used nappies and inserts in a nappy bucket with a lid until ready to wash. This is called 'dry pailing'. Do not soak nappies.
• If you wish, before washing, rinse dirty nappies. This step is optional.
• Place nappies on a rinse cycle and then wash them using 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended amount of washing powder/liquid.
• Line dry in the sun or tumble dry on warm. Because of the UV rays, the sun will remove any stains. It is best to hang nappies across the line so as to preserve the elastic in the legs.
TIP: If you have a front loader - I put my nappies on a longer wash which includes the rinses, on cold. I do not use any washing powder/liquid at all. I do one hot wash (no more than 60 degrees celsius) a week.
IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO USE ANY BLEACH OR FABRIC SOFTENERS
